GEOMAGA: The National Security Edition

Greetings, everyone,
We are happy to launch the 2025 edition of the Geomaga. In a way the year 2025 has been a year of national security. From Operation Sindoor against Pakistan to strikes on Myanmar and from technological advancements in the defence sector to the renewed focus on self-reliance, these are the broad spectrum of issues that have dominated the popular intellectual discourse throughout the year.

In this edition of the Geomaga, we have included 10 chapters starting with the analysis of Operation Sindoor and its implications on the national security paradigm of India. Technology has become an inalienable part of warfare and has fundamentally changed how wars are fought. The second chapter will examine the role of disruptive military technologies and Atmanirbhar Bharat.
On the maritime front, there exist many opportunities and challenges, which will be examined in the third and fifth chapters that talk about the Indo-Pacific Strategy and Securing India’s Maritime Borders, along with analysing the Future of India’s Naval Power. Whether it is the Russia-Ukraine War, the Israel-Gaza conflict or Pakistan's retaliatory attack against India during Operation Sindoor, drones played a pivotal role in either establishing or challenging existing air superiority against the adversary. The fifth chapter examines drone warfare from the perspective of the Indian Armed Forces.
While the sixth chapter focuses on the DRDO and the Atmanirbhar Bharat Initiative, the seventh one will highlight the importance of securing India’s critical infrastructure and its criticality in strengthening the country's civil-military synergy.
The eighth and ninth chapters will analyse and give recommendations to strengthen India's aerospace power, first through the perspective of space warfare and finally through charting out the transformation of the Indian Air Force. The final chapter will discuss military diplomacy, especially from the point of view of defence attachés.
